A Challenger e-Mission™, funded by NOAA, that teaches kids to read and interpret weather maps, and learn how meteorologists issue watches and warning using real historic data from the 2004 West Virginia flood.
Each team of students has "meteorological experts" monitoring weather data to accurately forecast atmospheric conditions. Teams will have to analyze the data as it is collected by various weather stations in the areas and predict not only the immediate forecast, but the forecast for potential flooding. Under extreme weather conditions they have to recommend emergency procedures and evacuation plans to local officials to save lives and get people to safety.
